they stopped using an index (that desktop creates) in the quick search
box; it basically just uses the spotlight search instead. i think they
did this to stop the eating of CPU... this SUCKS a lot because if you
have a lot of text/pdf/etc. documents the text is basically no longer
searchable - spotlight does a crap job of this. as far as i can tell,
it also no longer searches your firefox internet history.
the worst part is that desktop is no longer available in snow leopard
(osx 10.6), you have to use quick search box. you can make it a
spotlight clone by changing preferences and allowing it to search
spotlight results but why bother? it's then just a mildly improved
spotlight.
