Indeed allow to deactivate it. The Installer incites to uninstall all
Google applications, this constant pop-up is too annoying...

I totally agree. This app should never have been put out. It's
useless! I can use google for the web. I wanted what used to be Google
Desktop to do those wonderful searches it did on my computer.
Spotlight is very spotty...it does NOT register all the files for some
reason.

The fact remains that Desktop was the only program that properly
searched the text of word, pages, PDF, other documents. Spotlight
doesn't come close. because before my hard drive crashed (and i got
the new OS) i had that functionality, i didn't bother organizing the
thousands of research articles and documents as well as i would have

Be thankful that Google cleaned-up useless software FOR YOU that it
had put on your computer. So many vendors leave so much crap behind
when you took the initiative to uninstall it.

By useless, I mean it no longer had a purpose. I certainly prefer
updaters to having to do a separate download and install.

I launched Google Updater and was told: "You no longer need this
software so it will be uninstalled."

Who the heck are you to uninstall ANYTHING from my computer without my

I hope Google keeps supporting it. The new Quick Search Box is fine,
but doesn't replace Desktop.

I'm on OSX 10.5, using both, and in no hurry to upgrade to Snow
Leopard.

my laptop that I don't and since I dont use Google Desktop I want to

when I try to install Google Desktop:

Google Desktop can’t be installed on this computer.

they stopped using an index (that desktop creates) in the quick search
box; it basically just uses the spotlight search instead. i think they
did this to stop the eating of CPU... this SUCKS a lot because if you
have a lot of text/pdf/etc. documents the text is basically no longer
searchable - spotlight does a crap job of this. as far as i can tell,

"Improved" 10.6 address book sync has wrecked my phone book!

AFAIC, the "new & improved" feature where Address Book only syncs the
"My Contacts" group has wrecked my phone book.

Now, if I want to keep less-used contacts OUT of the My Contacts
group, the sync tries to delete them from my Mac!

This is horrible. How hard can it be to implement group syncing???
