There is no change in fan speed here when I start picasa. I am pretty
sure that picasa has no control over the fan speed so the only thing that could be causing the increase in fan speed is increased CPU activity. You need to look at the setup. Check what folders picasa in monitoring and if you have a lot of activity in those ( like say you have changed things with iPhoto ) then it is perfectly normal for the CPU usage to go up. It'll go back down once the process is completed and your fan will eventually spin down. I fail to see the appeal of picasa especially now that iPhoto 09 is
